Media Production treatment

The following essay intends to briefly describe the production processes of treating an idea. The media practices chosen to illustrate this process are radio and photography. This essay will discuss how the same idea can be formulated using two completely different media practices with an emphasis more on the production process rather than the final outcome. By concisely relating the different processes of correlating an idea, the problems that could be faced and how to overcome them, using the basic techniques that have been learnt should explain theoretical processes of a media production.

Gangstar

The following essay intends to demonstrate how the gangster genre is re-created through studying two different texts within that genre. By examining one text from America and another from Britain will display the different tendencies of how the genre has evolved away from the classic iconographies and narratives from the past. This essay aims to explore the two texts in brief detail in order to understand how they contribute to the creation of meaning of the gangster genre.

The Press Complaints Commission

The Press Complaints Commission (PCC) has always caused controversy throughout its eighteen years of existence. The PCC was created after the Calcutt Committee review in 1990[1], which called for a far more regulatory body to replace the then, much criticized Press Council. The PCC has never been fully accepted in society and it seems that the drums have started to beat once again for the removal of the voluntary self-regulatory system, in which the PCC operates, to a more statutory alternative that has powers enshrined in law.

Our free market economy

It could be argued that society does not exist today, even with millions of people living in Britain the social connections that used to be common place have eroded. It is all too easy to blame immigration but the threat is from the continuation of the neo-liberal agenda that allows the global flow of economy, services and people. Life has been reduced to people looking out for themselves primarily; society is now full of individuals who decide the direction of their lives.

Neo-education

A top class education is desired by most, but with so many different teaching practices now available, how do people make the right decision for future progression and prosperity. The knowledge economy is now seen as fundamental to the development of advance nations and the urgency for people to learn more is never ending. This paper will attempt to understand what is driving this agenda; the need for life-long learning, centres of excellence, and consumer choice.
